This research discusses the phrase “affliction is entrusted to speech” in new ways, highlighting the importance of careful consideration in what we say or think. The study is based on numerous evidences from the Quran and Sunnah that emphasize speaking good words, having good thoughts, and being optimistic, while rejecting bad speech and pessimism. This divine methodology, as commanded by Allah and His Messenger, enhances our happiness and allows us to live with constant hope and optimism. Commanding good speech, good thoughts about Allah, and optimism is a divine and prophetic methodology. The phrase “affliction is entrusted to speech” is substantiated by Quranic verses, Hadiths, and the sayings of the predecessors and scholars. Promoting optimism, good thoughts about Allah, and guiding people towards good speech is an Islamic, humane, and missionary methodology. Good speech, good thoughts, and optimism are acts of worship for which believers are rewarded, while bad speech, bad thoughts, and pessimism bring sin and harm. Therefore, it is essential to strive to adhere to good speech, good thoughts, and optimism, while rejecting bad speech, bad thoughts, and pessimism. The research highlights the need for an extensive study to clarify the truth of the phrase “affliction is entrusted to speech” and its related evidences. It also emphasizes gratitude to Allah for the blessing of having good thoughts about Him, and using this blessing as commanded by Allah.
